As reported by The Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Manchester United youngster Scott McTominay and Ethan Hamilton this January.
What’s the story?
With the Light Blues shopping on a budget in the upcoming transfer window, loan deals from the big clubs in England could be a valid route to pursue in order to add real quality to their squad without it costing the world.
Two players interesting the Ibrox side are Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Ethan Hamilton, two prospects who could have bright futures ahead of them in the Red Devils set-up.
That’s according to The Sun, who say that Rangers sent a scout to watch both last week, with the club set to enquire about their loan availability ahead of January.
Do they have what it takes to make an impact in the Scottish Premiership?
Who are they?
19-year-old midfielder Ethan Hamilton has yet to make a first team appearance for United so it’s hard to determine how much of an influence he can have on the Rangers first team, however Scott McTominay is making great progress under Jose Mourinho.
The 20-year-old has been on the fringes of the Red Devils’ starting eleven for a while now and has so far made four appearances this season, including two matches in the UEFA Champions League, one of which was a start against Benfica.
It’s clear he’s doing enough to impress Mourinho and that means he’s probably good enough for Rangers too. An attacking midfielder, he could add a creative spark to the central areas at Ibrox and give them a big mid-season boost as they attempt to compete for the Scottish Cup and finish as close to Celtic as possible in the league.
